Well, it has been an exciting weekend at our house. Actually, the excitement happened in Ellendale, ND. Jon and his basketball team had their region tournament there. They went in seeded 4th and on Thursday played the host team, Trinity. It was a very close game and ended up going into triple overtime with Jon's team coming out on top 113 - 111. That put them into the semi-final game playing Faith (the school we were at in Iowa) who was seeded #1. The starting 5 from Faith were all kids that Jon had coached. It was a close game as well with Crown coming out on top again 67 - 65. We went into the championship game against North Central University, who we had lost to during the regular season. The team played really well and won the North Central Region Championship by 12, 73 - 61. I am happy for the guys, but extremely proud of the coach! It has been a pretty crummy season (or 2), but he is a phenominal coach and I am really happy he got to experience this. They leave for Nationals in Springfield, MO next Sunday. Something I thought was pretty cool is the fact that Jon has now been to the NCCAA nationals as a player and a coach for two sports. He won the region as a soccer player in college and then won as a soccer coach (at Pillsbury). He also won the region as a basketball player in college and now as a basketball coach.Anyway, the kids didn't have any tournaments this past weekend so we cleaned the house and then went bowling last night. I had forgotten how to bowl "for real". Bowling on the Wii really is much different, and can I say, much more fun, as my score is a whole lot higher on the Wii. It was a good weekend for all of us.
Basketball is winding down for everyone. Jamie and Jared only have their state tournaments left for traveling ball and Josh and Jamie have just a few games left for school. While we are all ready for the warm weather that comes with baseball and softball, it is always a sad time for us when that last hoop is made for the season.
We hope everyone is healthy and well. Thanks for checking in and have a great week.
