Happy New Year!

Hi everyone. It has been a whirlwind of a couple weeks. We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and hope that the new year brings many wonderful things to each of you. We spent a few days at my parents house for Christmas. The kids enjoyed being with their cousins and had a great time building a fort out on the island of my parents lake. Grandpa made sure I was scared to death as he took the kids on the four wheeler and did donuts on the lake. My adventurous days are long gone!

Two days after Christmas we got word that my Grandma (my dad's mom) passed away quietly in her sleep. She would have turned 88 next week and had been deteriorating in health slowly over the last few months. Our plans quickly changed with preparations to head to Denver, CO. Dad and mom flew out on Wednesday night from Minneapolis and after dropping them off at the airport, my sister, Jill and I drove their car straight through the night to Denver trying to beat the storm that was quickly approaching Colorado. We pulled into Golden around 9:00 on Thursday morning and it started snowing at noon. My brother, Don was supposed to fly in that night as well as my four cousins. Don's flight was cancelled and re-booked for Friday. Nikki was able to get in before they shut down the airport while Andi, Michelle and Porrie didn't make it in at all. It was quite the storm and it wreaked havoc on our travel plans and while it was disappointing that we could not all be there we are very grateful everyone is safe. It is always sad to loose someone you love, but it was a wonderful time with family that we don't get to see as often as we would like. I flew home on New Year's Eve and came home to 10 inches of snow that had fallen that day. I have definitely had my fill of snow for the winter!!!

We started back to work today and the kids head to school tomorrow! Our routine will be in full swing again and as we become very busy with basketball and the daily grind please know that we wish you and your families joy and happiness for this new year!
